April TBR

Hey guys

First of all I want to say sorry about not posting on Saturday, but I was unbelievably ill, and now I've really only gotten 100% better. I'll most likely do that planned post next month.
I got this idea from BooksandLala (Her video). She made her son choose some books for her to read. One for the title, one for the cover, one for the synopsis, and one random book from her bookshelf.
And I got inspired, so I got my mam to do the same for me!

The first one that my mam chose (because of the title) was:
Six Of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
Katterdam: a bustling hub of international trade where anything can be had for the right price - and no one knows that better than criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker. Kaz is offered a chance at a deadly heist that could make him rich beyond his wildest dreams. But he can't pull this alone...
A convict with a thirst for revenge.
A sharpshooter who can't walk away from a wager.
A runaway with a privileged past.
A spy known as the Wraith.
A Heartrender using her magic to survive the slums.
A thief with a gift for unlikely escapes.
Six dangerous outcasts. One impossible heist. Kaz's crew is the only thing that might stand between the world and destruction - if they don't kill each other first.
I'm looking forward to reading this. I really don't know what has took me so long to read this, so I'm glad I finally have the oomph to pick it up.

The second one (because of the cover) is:
Heartless by Marissa Meyer
Catherine may be one of the most desired girls in Wonderland, and a favourite of the unmarried King of Hearts, but her interests lie elsewhere. A talented baker, all she wants is to open a shop with her best friend. But according to her mother, such a goal is unthinkable for the young woman who could be the next Queen.
Then Cath meets Jest, the handsome and mysterious court joker. For the first time, she feels the pull of true attraction. At the risk of offending the king and infuriating her parents, she and Jest enter into an intense, secret courtship. Cath is determined to define her own destiny and fall in love on her terms. But in a land thriving with magic, madness, and monsters, fate has other plans.
I don't really blame my man for picking up this one because of the cover. Alice's Adventures In Wonderland is my favourite fairy tale/children stories, so I'm really excited to read this!

The third book (for the synopsis) is:
Crave The Mark by Veronica Roth
Cyra is the sister of the brutal tyrant who rules the Shotet people. Cyra's currentgift gives her pain and power - something her brother exploits, using her to torture his enemies. But Cyra is much more than just a blade in her brother's hand: she is resilient, quick on her feet, and smarter than he knows.
Akos is the son of a farmer and an oracle from the frozen nation-planet of Thuvhe. Protected by his unusual currentgift, Akos is generous in spirit, and his loyalty to his family is limitless. Once Akos and his brother are captured by enemy Shotet soldiers, Akos is desperate to get his brother out alive - no matter what the cost.
Then Akos is thrust into Cyra's world, and the enmity between their countries and families seems insurmountable. Will they help each other to survive, or will they destroy one another?
I don't really have a preference on how I feel about this book. I'm still going to read it, but it wouldn't have been my first choice.
Fun Fact: This is the first book I bought in Australia.

And lastly, the random bookshelf pick (I made her pick a number, she chose 18, and that's the book I'm going to read):
The Shadow Of The Gallows by Barry Redfern
Retired Police Superintendent Barry Redfern scrutinises crime on Tyneside during the eighteenth century, a time of violent crime and rough justice. He delves into crimes such as murder and highway robbery and the social conditions that provoked them. He investigates the trials, hangings, imprisonment, transportation and other punishments in this detailed and lively account.
I've been missing Newcastle for ages so (even though it's a crime and punishment book) it'll be a nice book to take me back home. I also like reading up on Newcastle history so this will be a good piece of research.

And that is is for what I plan to read this April. I doubt that I'll be reading these books in this order. I am definitely out of my slump, so fingers crossed I manage to read all of these.

Till next time
