Books I Want To Re-Read
Hey guys
I've been in a very re-readie (is that a word?) mood lately, so I thought I'd share what books I really want to get into again.
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
This book follows 4 March sisters: Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy, who are living with their mother in New England. Their farther is away serving as a chaplain in the Civil War, and the sisters struggle to support themselves and keep their home running despite the fact that the family recently lost their fortune. In the process, they become close friends with their wealthy neighbour, Theodore Laurence (also known as Laurie). Jo, the lovely protagonist, must tame her tomboyish ways and learn to be more ladylike while pursuing her ambition to be a great writer. Meg, the oldest of the 4, must put aside her love of wealth and finery in order to follow her heart. Beth, the adorable shy sister (and my favourite), must conquer her bashfulness, while Amy, The youngest March, has to sacrifice her aristocratic pride. The girls are guided in their personal growth by their sweet mother (also known as Marmee), and by their religious faith.
In my opinion, I don't think enough people have read this book, which is quite upsetting since it's such a good book! I haven't read this book in so long, so it's going to be nice to read it again. I haven't read it from this edition yet, but I look forward to it.
The Perks Of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
Charlie's not the biggest geek in high school, but he's by no means popular. Shy, introspective, intelligent, yet socially awkward, charlie is a wallflower, standing on the threshold of his life whilst watching everyone else live theirs. As Charlie tries to navigate his way through uncharted territory (the world of first dates and mix tapes, family drama and new friends) he realises that he can't stay on the sidelines forever. There comes a time when you have to see what life looks like from the dance floor.
This was my favourite book for so long and I'm quite disappointed in myself for not reading it again sooner.
The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins
In the dark vision of the near future, twelve boys, and twelve girls are forced to appear in a live TV show called The Hunger Games. There is only one rule: kill or be killed. When 16 year-old Katniss Everdeen steps forward to take her sister's place in the games, she sees it as a death sentence. But Katniss has been close to death before. For her, survival is second nature.
If I'm going to be reading old favourites, how could I not pick up the books that got me into reading? I'd be ashamed in myself if I didn't.

The Fault In Our Stars by John Green
Despite the tumour-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. Nut when a gorgeous plot twist names Augustus Water suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel's story is about to be completely rewritten.
I think it's been about 2 years since I read this book, and I really enjoyed it, so I think it's high time that I picked it up again.

The Woman In Black by Susan Hill
Arthur Kipps, a junior solicitor, is summoned to attend the funeral of Mrs Alice Drablow, the sole inhabitant of Eel Marsh House, unaware of the tragic secrets which lie hidden behind the sheltered windows. The house stands at the end of a causeway, wreathed in fog and mystery, but it is not until he glimpses a wasted young woman, dressed all in black, at the funeral, that a creeping sense of unease begins to take hold, a feeling deepened by the reluctance of the locals to talk of the woman in black - and her terrible purpose.
Just like The Perks Of Being A Wallflower, this used to be a big favourite of mine. I was planning on reading this again Halloween time last year, but stuff got in the way. Still, better late than never.

Life Of Pi by Yann Martel
After the tragic sinking of a cargo ship, one solitary lifeboat remains bobbing on the wild, blue Pacific. The crew of the surviving vessel consists of a hyena, a zebra (with a broken leg), a female orang-utan, a 450 pound Royal Bengal tiger and Pi (a 16 year-old Indian boy). The scene is set for one of the most extraordinary adventure
The last time I read this was on 2013, so that's a long while ago. I really liked it, and I can't remember a lot of details about it, which means it's definitely high on the list.

Dracula by Bram Stoker
When Jonathan Harker visits Transylvania to help Count Dracula purchase a London house, he makes horrifying discoveries in his client's castle. Soon afterwards, disturbing incidents unfold in England; an unmanned ship is wrecked; strange puncture marks appear on a young woman's neck; and a lunatic asylum inmate raves about the imminent arrival of his 'Master'.
I read this in year 9 and I liked it, but I think I'll like it a lot better if I read it for enjoyment instead of being forced to read it because of school.
And The Band Played On by Christopher Ward
On 14th April 1912 the Titanic struck an iceberg on her maiden voyage. As the order to abandon ship was given, the orchestra took their instruments on deck and continued to play. They were still playing when the ship went down. The violinist, 21 year-old Jock Hume, was the author's grandfather. One hundred years later, Christopher Ward tells the dramatic story of love, loss and betrayal, and the catastrophic impact of Jock's death on two very different Scottish families. This book truly shows that the class you were in, determined the way you lived - and died.9
I got this from a library and I loved it, but I was never able to find it again, which upset me. And I was very happy when my friend got it for my birthday for me, but I haven't read it again yet, so I'm going to have to do that soon.
The Art Of Being Normal by Lisa Williamson
Two outsiders. Two secrets. David longs to be a girl. Leo wants to be invisible. When Leo stands up for David in a fight, an unlikely friendship forms. But things are about to get messy. Because at Eden Park School secrets have a funny habit of not staying secret for long.
This was a last minute add to this list because I realised how much I miss the feeling ls I felt while reading it.

And those are the books I'm very eager to re-read. I hope I'm able to get into them soon, or I'll be one very upset reader.
Till next time
